What Is Good Diet Advice?
Good diet
advice can be hard to find. While it is certainly true
that diet advice itself is widely offered in
general, the difference between good advice and misleading,
ill-informed misinformation is the all-important
factor.
The problem
lies with the intentions behind the advice itself. What
you should ask yourself when reading any subject matter
offering diet advice
is:
• Does the work
appear to be well researched?
• Has the author any
ulterior motives for this advice?
• Is the work obviously
biased i.e. is there a specific product or cure commonly
referred to throughout the work?
Do Your
Research
One of the
best checks you can perform is to search online for
further information on the subject matter at hand. Are
there any alternative arguments against what the author
is stating? Is there any factual evidence to be found
that backs up their bold claims? Never take one person’s
word for anything – unless you trust them implicitly –
always check the facts.
Lose Hope,
Not Weight
Good, sound
diet advice can be a make or break
situation for many people. Choose wisely and you could be
heading along the correct path towards a healthy diet
choice; get hoodwinked and you may find yourself falling
for dubious diet advice that will leave you resting your
hopes on a plan that will never work, could leave you
disheartened and worse still, may be detrimental to your
overall health.
The Proof is
In The Pudding!
I cannot
state strongly enough the need to check the facts and
figures. If someone is basing their argument on
statistical evidence, don’t take their word for it – go
research! I am constantly amazed by the numerous readers
that excitedly email about a brand new product or about
some wonder diet they just read about and go on to reel
off a list of incredible positive statistics that have
been flung their way. I always ask if they have checked
these facts and on far too many occasions they have
failed to do so.
I still
continue to find this crazy! If someone turned up on your
doorstep trying to get you to buy a wonder-pill that they
promised would make you thin wouldn’t you be slightly
suspicious? Even if they then told you that they already
sold 100 of these and every single one had resulted in a
100% success, I doubt you would simply accept this claim.
Yet, that is what far too many people are already doing
by accepting unproven diet advice
without ever questioning the finer
details.
Beware Of
Strangers Bearing Gifts
If something
is worth your effort it will already be popular.
Information moves fast these days and if a product or
system is worthwhile then a lot of people will already be
talking about it. Go read what they have to say. Check
out real stories by real people. Look for empirical
evidence; nothing is worth the paper it is written on
these days without a sound scientific basis. If someone
tells you something will change your life, make sure it
will be a change for the good.
Diet
advice is easy to find and even easier to offer.
Just make sure you have ALL the facts!
